I am currently working at Dell Services as a testing CoE head. From January 2009, I have played various roles at Dell such as Test Process consultant, Test architect and delivery head in Specialized Testing. My focus is on building a strong specialized testing team to address specific challenges faced by customers from different industry verticals.
Decisions That Mattered
First is changing the career path from mechanical to IT sector in 1997. It was a good learning. Prior to joining Dell, I had worked with companies like DSL Software, Wipro, Cognizant etc in Bangalore, USA and Chennai and had carried out various roles like Test Manager, Test process consultant, Account Management, Delivery management at different levels in the organization. After joining Dell Services, it was under my leadership that the Testing CoEgroup was formed under Dell’s “TestingService Line” focusing on Automation, Performance, SOA and Security Testing.
My main focus is on building a strong core team with specialized testing competency to address specific needs of customers’ different industry verticals. With good expertise in engaging customers in a consultative communication and when I got to articulate technology and solutions with simplistic and real life examples, I was understood and recognized better.
Role & Responsibility: Before and Now
I had always tried to be a techno functional manager to keep myself close to the technology and team. Driving initiatives are always my strength and focus area and I had been able to setup and establish the idea to larger scale in the past.
At present, as a head - specialized testing, I am responsible for setting up and building the specialized testing capabilities such as Performance, cloud, security, SOA testing etc that could be leveraged by the customers for their future technology adoption.
Five Years Down the Line
Generally I don’t plan much for the future, but the present determines the future and so I hope to make a positive impact in the field that I am in any organization, so that in years to come, I will be part of the success story of such organization
Important lessons for professional life
Being straightforward is first. Also one needs to have risk taking attitude and strong commitment towards their individual profession. Ability to continuously learn and adapt to new environment is also key to professional success
