Plans for the Future
I would like to see myself as Test Manager where I can manage a project relating to testing to make sure the project is successful by delivering the deliverables in time and get good reputation to company.
Changes in the industry
There has been a lot in change where the testing has become most important part of SOftware Life Cycle. There were new methodologies which can be implemented inorder to make the testing more compatable and easy to perform.Lots of companies are now considering Testing as seperate competency
Essential Advice
I would say testing as good option.A tester will have more business knowledge where he/she should think both in and out inorder to perform testing.A tester can perform his role in Production support and can identify the root cause when compared to developer because of his knowledge on business.
Areas for the Future
Testing can be done as Manula Testing OR Automation Testing.FOr automation you got many tools like QTP,LoadRunner,HP Service Test,ItkoLisa.Inorder to grow with Manual Testing, you should be specialised in any Technologies like Mainframes,ETL,Database,UNIX,Shell Scripting,SOA,XML,SAP,Networking.
Most Important Decisions
I love working with IBM and I have beein in IBM from 6 years with no change.
Points of inflection
My carrer is a straight carrer with 6 years in IBM in Testing.
A Fine Balance:
I am bachelor and so will contribute most of the time to work and will enjoy in weekends.
Most Important Lessons
1.Positive Attitude.2.Self Confidence.3.Talk to customers in understanding procedure.4.Give respect to work you do.5.Deliver the work in time.6.Follow the organization rules you work in.6.Good rapo with team mates.6.Share work with team mates.
Tech trends to watch out for
Most of the companies are now focussing on Automation Testing which will reduce man power and increase productivity. So,I should definitely concentrate on doing Automation testing.
Degrees that Matter
There are certifications for SOftware Testing like ISTQB foundation and Advanced,CSTE,CSTm,CSQA.I would recommend to do certifications which will help understand the process and get next level in testing
The Journey So Far
MY carrer journey is only with IBM from last 6 years.
