The Journey : Early Days to How I Got Here
I started my career as a contractor and later on with my work and skills; my contractual position was changed to Permanent roles. In my present position, I am responsible for Test Planning, White Box Testing/ Code Coverage, Test Framework Development/Automating the Test Cases and Manual Testing. Have good hands-on experience in GUI Automation tools like Selenium, Winrunner, QTP, Rational Robot and Agile Model Work Practice and also in writing Product specifications, Test plans and Test cases.
Decisions That Mattered
Being an Information technology Engineer and a hardcore programmer, taking a decision to learn testing techniques and shifting into QA was a very important decision.
Two Years Down the Line
Couple of years from now, I endeavor to have refined my strategic and technical skills. I intend to be a leading expert in test planning and execution. After having proven myself as a senior SQA Engineer, I hope to move towards the managerial roles. I could do this in any number of official roles. The important thing is that I will continue contributing my abilities, sharpening my technical and leadership skills in a challenging and rewarding environment.
What I Learnt Along the Way
One should be calm and a good listener. You should not react on things immediately without understanding the details of it.
My Advice If You are Starting Out
One whoever enters into QA roles, should always try to understand the product technical specifications in detail. Also, try to think different which adds a lot in defining and designing test cases. Learning Automation also adds up to one's skill as well as benefits to the product being tested.
