About Mohit Garg's family

I was born & brought up in a middle class family at Delhi. My farther retired as an Architect working with central government of India, while my mother has always been a home maker. My brother is a senior executive at IBM & my sister is a MBA in marketing and advertising. My wife is AVP at Start TV
Currently working at
At the co-founder & CEO of MindTickle, I lead the marketing, business development, partner strategy and sales. I also successfully secured angel and seed financing for MindTickle from top tier VCs and angel investors. I define my role at MindTickle as working the company backwards form IPO.
Plans for the Future
In the next couple of years, I see MindTickle become one of the biggest global product story from India. As part of this journey the entire leadership and founding team of MindTickle will have to step up and think like a Salesforce.com in the making. This is an exciting challenge and opportunity.
Parting thoughts
MindTickle believes that the enterprise application space can benefit immensely from the adoption of social, gamified and mobile (SoGaMo). MindTickle is evangelizing the concept of Gamification, and we are the first to market with the application of Gamification for employee learning & engagement.
Changes in the industry
I have witnessed the entire product life cycle across three generations starting from the late 90s then ISO certification was considered holy grail of QA, to early 2000s where outsourced QA became popular to now where crowdsourced QA is becoming the norm. MindTickle is a big fan of 99 Tests.

Essential Advice
An effective QA is always aligned with the business needs. Few tips from my experience: 1. Devise QA with scenarios/data with the user in mind 2. Identify the 80:20 split of the user flows 3. Create staging environments for pre-production deployment and iterate fast, with backup instances on standby
Degrees that Matter
QA/testing professionals should spend some time interacting with customers/users. Each QA person should play the role of customer support at least once. I believe that domain expertise and industry knowledge can be picked up, but no certification can teach appreciation of customer/user centricity
Most Important Decisions
My most important career strategy has been to never be complacent. Best important decision is to focus on learning and long term value addition as opposed to short term monetary benefits and losses. To quote the words of a great man - "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish"
The Journey So Far
Prior to co-founding MindTickle, I was a Director in PwC’s management consulting practice at New York. I have deep product development experience and proven track record in successful Silicon Valley startups such as Aruba Networks. I hold a MSEE degree from Stanford University and MBA from ISB.
Areas for the Future
UI / UX testing, Big Data testing, Multi-device testing
