Contribution to the field
The work culture here is really good and also the exposure given to employees but that also depends on the indiviudals and their interest.
Intellectual Recommendations
Follow James Bach, Exploratory testing community , RApid Software Testing community etc.. and best apart form these more you explore more you gain knowledge :)
Additional Certifications
Certifications I would not suggest for QA. Exploratory is the other way to get self certified
Excellence of Testing Professionals
Can work with varied persons but not with Headless managers :), especially non-techy managers.
My Road map Ahead

Future of QA
Challenges in day today task's, and job/task that I work is my CUP of COFFEE ..:)
Contribution to the field
BOth matters to me :)
Challenges with QA domain
Yes I have worked OverTime/Nights/Weekends. That helped me to learn/make decisions when is the need to work like that and under what context we should push ourselves, understand the suitation. That also helped me motivate the juniors to be more committed to what work they are doing.
The Big Question
I would say yes to that to some extent and still a long way to go in that path:). As a QA professional I belive I have developed/enriched my skills(technical, manager, communication skills etc..) with which I would say YES.
Changes in professional environment
ahhh...
I really was not sure that I will be a QA professional before getting into this so called software.. but once I got into this I was pushed into QA .. but later I felt QA is intersting(Automation,Security,Per) and started looking at various corners of QA and I would be a techy professional :
The Most Important Game
Hmmmm..
1. Production release , worked overnight and pushed it to PROD.
2. Implementing the solution for automation when tool vendor said it cannot be DONE :)
3. Learing the auotmation and sharing the expertise with others and getting them to pace
4. Sharing the workload within the team
Growth Initiatives
Explore and explore is the only way I can think of :) and try implementing when there is a chance to do that, share/discuss with others and buy their suggestions or opinions etc...
