About Biswajit Pal's family
My father Late Dr. Sudhir Chandra Pal was an Emiritus Scientist with valuable contributions to India and International Research on Diarrhoea and AIDS and my brother is also in his footsteps. My wife is a Sr.Agency Manager with ICICI Prudential. My daughter will be starting her engineering degree.
My seniors at NIIT inspired me to work with a plan. They believed in the concept of PQI (Personal Quality Initiative) to improve good "productivity boosting habits: and reduce "bad" habits. Mr Suren Sigh Rasaily VP and Director with NIIT Ltd is a person with mticulous work habits and inspires all.
Most Important Decisions
My decision to focus on the growing SMB segment gave me a great insight into the working of numerous enterprises in engineering, chemical, cement, real estate, construction, food procissing verticals. As India has evolved over the past decade these organisations have started benefitting from ERP.
ERP is a vast field with so many players like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft and many industry specific ones like the one where I am working in is focussed on reals estate vertical. The cloud computing model is helping them manage their operations like sales, purchase, materisls,HR Payroll CRM, all at a low
A Fine Balance:
Work life with growing kids in these modern times (both parents working) requires special effort. The kids disclose everything to us. We spend time understanding them and doing what they would like us to do over weekends (like hobby, games, footbal swimming) Thnakfully we all are fit mentally and ph
Most Important Lessons
The most important lesson is about relationship management. I always believed that if a team is winning it is becasue of the group effort. This "feeling" is either there or it has to be inculcated. Everyone has to contribute in his way. Empathy on a colleagues success and sympathy do count.
An analytical bent of mind with "problem solving attitude" does matter
Currently working at
My current job profile is taking our "cloud" product to market. As we go to variuos clients we cmoe to know of many unique requirements, some of which can be standarised into the product some need to be treated as "customisation" to serve company specific needs.
Plans for the Future
After a couple of years I would like to work for NGOs where we could converge ICT to the village level. A single point contact for information, (valuable medicine to maintain cold chain) amd education all in AC set-up. NRI investors who want to see thier country transformed down to the grass roots
Tech trends to watch out for
1.Does my product enhace the user experience or complicate it.
2.How to keep the solution relevat with changing business scenarios.
Current and Previous Responsibilities
My present role is mostly on the field experience level, meeting prospects, understanding their specific needs.
The Journey So Far
I started my career in education for the first 10 years at NIIT Ltd followed with ERP sales in various verticals with several players covering the entire national market.
